2026 HFUT Undergraduate Program Admission Guide for International Students

I Introduction to HFUT

Hefei University of Technology (HFUT), located in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui Province, is a national key university administrated directly by the Ministry of Education of China. Founded in 1945, HFUT has a long history of providing high-quality education and conducting cutting-edge research in various fields. HFUT is one of the universities of Project 211 and Program 985 innovation platform in China, and also one of universities included in the list of “Double First Class” plan, the country’s construction plan of world-class universities and first-class disciplines. Twelve disciplines of the university rank among the top 1% of the global ESI, and its engineering science disciplines have entered the top 0.4‰ of the global ESI ranking.

 

II Duration and Majors

1. Duration: 4 years

III Eligibility

1. Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy;

2.Applicants must hold a high school diploma before September 1, 2026;

3. Applicants should not be older than 25;

4. Applicants’ academic grade in the previous stage should not be less than 75%;

5. Applicants shall complete the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) prior to the application deadline. Relevant test subjects are specified in Appendix 1, and detailed test arrangements may be accessed via the official CSCA website (www.csca.cn).

6. Applicants for Chinese-taught Programs shall have the Chinese proficiency of HSK 4; Applicants for English-taught Programs shall have the English proficiency of IELTS 6.0/TOEFL 85/TOEFL Essentials 9/Duolingo 100 or above. 

7. Applicants who previously held Chinese citizenship must have obtained foreign nationality and renounced their Chinese nationality before April 30, 2022. Additionally, they must have resided abroad for more than 2 years between April 30, 2022 to April 30, 2026. (record of actual foreign residency for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, referring to the entry and exit date signatures)

 

IV Application Materials

1. Scanned copy of passport biodata page; 

Ordinary passport with more than one-year remaining validity; Applicants currently residing in China also need to provide a scanned copy of the current valid visa page or residence permit page.

2. Scanned copy of high school diploma/ graduation certificate;

Graduating students can provide pre-graduation certificate, indicating the expecting time for graduation, and the graduation certificate must be submitted before registration.

3. Scanned copies of high school transcripts for each semester/academic year;

4. Test results of CSCA;

5. Language qualification certificates; 

Applicants for Chinese-taught programs need to provide HSK4 certificate, and applicants for English-taught programs need to provide IELTS, TOEFL or Duolingo transcripts; Applicants unable to provide standardized language test certificates may submit a proof of instruction language if their previous academic stage was conducted in Chinese or English.

7. Scanned copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form; (Refer to Appendix 3 for the given template)

The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. The physical examination result is valid for 6 months.

8. Non-criminal record report;

The Non-Criminal Record should be issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.

9. Financial Guarantee Statement; (Refer to Appendix 4 for the given template)

The Financial Guarantee Statement should be submitted together with the guarantor’s ID certificate and bank statement (the minimum amount should be 30,000 RMB or equivalent foreign currency).

10. School Performance Certificate(Refer to Appendix 5 for the given template)

Applicants who are currently studying or have studied in China shall provide a school performance certificate, which shall be issued and sealed by the international student administration department of their attending university/college.

11. Letter of authorization and guarantee; (Refer to Appendix 6 for the given template) 

Applicants under the age of 18 by the registration date shall provide this document, and submit the agent guardian’s ID certificate at the same time.

 

Note:

(1) If the above materials are not written in Chinese or English, a notarized translation in Chinese or English must be provided. 

(2) Uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials.

 

V Fee Standards

1. Tuition: 22,000 RMB/year

2. On-campus accommodation: 4,000RMB/year

3. Medical Insurance: 800 RMB/year

4. Application fee: 400 RMB (The fee is non-refundable, regardless of admission status.)

Remarks:

In accordance with the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education of China, international students must purchase comprehensive medical insurance  during their stay in China. Those who fail to purchase the insurance will not be allowed to complete the registration process.

VI Scholarship Information

1. Chinese Government Scholarship (Bilateral Program)

(1) Funding Content

Tuition, on-campus accommodation or off-campus accommodation subsidy, comprehensive medical insurance and stipend

(2) How to Apply

Applicants shall consult and apply to the dispatching department of their home countries, and the general application period is from early January to early April. 2. HFUT Undergraduate Scholarship (for Chinese-taught program & English Major program)

(1) Funding Content:

Type A: Tuition, on-campus accommodation

Type B: 1/2 tuition, on-campus accommodation

Type C: On-campus accommodation

(2) Funding Period: 4 years

(3) How to Apply: Applicants log in to HFUT International Student Online Service System (http://admission.hfut.edu.cn) to complete the application. There is no need to select the scholarship type when applying. HFUT will allocate scholarships based on the comprehensive review results.

 

3. HFUT English-taught Program Scholarship (for English-taught program)

(1) Funding Content:

Type A: 2/3 tuition, on-campus accommodation

Type B: 1/2 tuition, on-campus accommodation

Type C: On-campus accommodation

(2) Funding Period: 4 years

(3) How to Apply: Applicants log in to HFUT International Student Online Service System (http://admission.hfut.edu.cn) to complete the application. There is no need to select the scholarship type when applying. HFUT will allocate scholarships based on the comprehensive review results.

 

Note: All scholarship recipients are required to participate in the annual scholarship review, which is generally conducted from May to July each year. Recipients of CSC scholarship can enjoy their scholarship for the following academic year only when they pass the review. Recipients of HFUT Undergraduate Scholarship and English-taught Program Scholarship will have their scholarship types reassessed and reallocated for the following academic year based on their evaluation results. Those who fail the review will have their scholarship qualifications suspended or cancelled.

VIII Application Process

Step 1: Materials Preparation

Note: The CSCA test result is one of the essential documents for applying to undergraduate programs at HFUT. It serves as an important quantitative indicator to assess applicants' academic competence. Please refer to Appendix 1 for specific test subjects. Applicants can visit the official website (www.csca.cn) to check the registration method and test arrangements. To ensure a smooth application process, it is recommended to take the CSCA test and obtain the transcript as early as possible to reserve sufficient time for subsequent application and review.

Step 2: Apply Online

Applicants should log in to HFUT International Student Online Service System (http://admission.hfut.edu.cn) to register and complete application.

1. Each applicant can only apply for one degree program. Please do not apply repeatedly;

2. The email address used in the application system must be valid and the applicant should ensure that the email address can be used before registration;

3. Applicants must submit all application materials that meet the requirements before the deadline.

Step 3: Initial Qualification Review

1. The Admissions Office will review the completeness and authenticity of the materials in 5-7 work days.

2. If the applicant receives a notice regarding supplementary materials, please submit the relevant materials before the application deadline.

3. Applicants who pass the initial review must pay a non-refundable application fee of 400 RMB.

Step 4: Comprehensive Interview

After confirming the payment of application fee, applicants will receive an email notification of the comprehensive interview within 7-10 working days. The interview results will be sent via system message or email.

Step 5: Pre-admission & fee payment

Applicants who pass all the reviews will receive HFUT Pre-admission Notice. Pre-admitted students are required to confirm their admissions and pay their tuition fees within the prescribed period stated in the pre-admission notice. Those who don’t give feedback as required will be deemed as giving up the admission.

Step 6: Issuance of Admission Materials

1. After the tuition payment is confirmed, HFUT will issue the Admission Notice and Confirmation Form for study in China via email.

2.Students should bring their passport, Admission Notice, and Confirmation Form for study in China to the Chinese embassy or consulate abroad to apply for an entry study (X1) visa.

Step 7: Registration

1. New students will start studying at HFUT in early September 2026. Please refer to the Admission Notice for the specific registration date. Those who fail to report on time without approval shall be deemed to have forfeited their admission.

2. New students shall bring the Admission Notice, the Confirmation Form for study in China, and the original copies of all application materials for registration verification. If the original copies are in languages other than Chinese or English, notarized English translations will need to be submitted. Those who fail the verification will have their admission qualification revoked.

 

IX Payment Method

Applicants must pay the application fee, tuition fee and other fees by bank transfer. The bank information is shown in the table below:
